Juneteenth

Juneteenth is the longest-running African American holiday and honors the end of slavery in the United States. It commemorates June 19, 1865, the day more than two years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation when the enslaved people in Texas were finally told that they were free. Freedom Day! Emancipation Day! Here are some children's books about this very important day.
