It had its moments, but was a bit of a disappointment. I haven't read the book by Nick Hornby (brilliant, perceptive, honest writer) so I don't know how much the movie followed it, but the trailer made it seem like it was a light comedy. [Semi-spoiler follows] Unfortunately, after the enjoyable beginning, the plot focused on the dark reality of the former rock star's life. The incredibly self-absorbed guy thought that if he moped enough and was cute enough there would be no long-lasting consequences for his previous actions, and he could still luck out and get the girl. The female lead grew so much during the story, but I think she wimped out at the end. Luckily I love Ethan Hawke's acting, and Ayoola Smart played her role perfectly, so that made up for it somewhat.
