What was it like to be a British citizen contributing to the war effort during and after WWII? This book along with Michael Ondaatje's "Warlight," Chris Cleave's "Everyone Brave Is Forgiven," Michael Frayn's "Spies," and Kate Atkinson's "Life After Life" are my guides, each revealing a different aspect of British society. Transcription is a terrific read - well written, fully developed characters, great dialog, nice plot twists.
