Here's the magic: How did they take one of the most engaging, readable books that had a brilliant idea on every page and turn it into a boring, slow moving mini-series? Hocus-pocus! This is what the BBC did, which is so unlike them for they are able to breathe in fresh life to so much of fine literature. However, that's what happened! Efforts like this do well for literature, causing the viewer to discover all of the best parts that never made it into the mini-series. The acting is top-notch and the sets are OK. The FX are all CGI with a very dull energy to them. Do yourself a favour: don't! Instead, read the book. The book is absolutely amazing. WARNING: there is no 2nd season. This is the story.
