Diary of a Teenage Girl

[An Account in Words and Pictures]

Though it won't be to everyone's liking (who cares?) I thought this book was amazing. Half-way through I found myself flipping back to the introduction, trying to discern whether I was reading fact or fiction but also, having once been a 15-year old girl, fully understanding that it must be fact-based. Phoebe Gloeckner is an amazing artist and this book, rebranded now - quite smartly - as a graphic novel (or "an account in words and pictures") is like a master class in how to interweave narrative into graphic novel format and back again. The story made me recall feelings I hadn't experienced or thought of in decades. Simply amazing!
