A passage from the book will suffice to describe ".......this work has much in common with the villainous windings of a stream, or even the visual disruptions of a migrainous zigzag, and its coherence must emerge, rather than be laid down." The Victorian era doesn't appear to be as strait-laced as it appears in history books in this rollicking account of a depressive illustrator.
