After reading the 4 reviews here, I figured I add my 2 cents. I believe that anyone saying this book 'wrecked the whole series' for them needs to start back at book 1 or perhaps move to Laurel K. Hamilton's later Anita Blake series...from about book 12 on. That may suit them better. Note...I dropped that series after the author turned Anita in a sex queen with a thousand and one partners and her sex life ended up being the only thing Anita hunted book after book. This book was about growth, learning, and Rachel moving towards the next phase of her life. That being said, I do agree that at some points Rachel seemed too stupid to live. That's life and I quickly got over it. If Rachel was written as if she were perfect there would have been a book two, but nothing further as we all would have lost interest. From what I have read this series will soon be coming to an end. I'm hoping for a Rachel/Trent union to tie things up.
