It is bedtime and the boy in this book says he will not read the book in his hand because "reading is hard and I don't read fast and sometimes there are words I don't know." He gives multiple death-defying scenarios in which even then he will not read the book until the end when he says, if mom catches him, then he will read the book. The little boy in the book is afraid to read the book but by the end he knows it will be all right if he has someone to read along beside him. The illustrations are adorable and colorful. By page 10 it becomes very repetitive in Green Eggs and Ham style. But for a reluctant or early reader this is perfect because repetitiveness encourages success. The repetitiveness is silly fun as well so the reader does not become bored. This book is advertized for ages 4-8. I'm not sure the 4 year old range would enjoy this as much, but definitely grades k-3.
