This is the second book to Jenny Han’s trilogy The Summer I Turned Pretty. After Susannah loses her battle to cancer, it is the first summer Belly and her family as well as Susannah’s family will no longer be altogether at the summer house. In fact, no one ends up going in the beginning. Belly and Conrad are now history that did not end well and barely speak anymore. After Conrad goes missing and Jeremiah asks Belly for help to find him, they both know there is only one place Conrad would go- the beach house. They take a trip to Cousins where Belly, Conrad, and Jeremiah are reunited for the first time since Susannah’s funeral. After discovering that the reason why Conrad has been skipping school and missed an exam, they find out that Conrad is actually trying to save the summer house. Mr. Fisher wants to sell the summer house, but Belly and the brothers are not ready to let go. Jeremiah and Belly begin to explore their feelings for each other and problems arise between them and Conrad. By the end of the book, the love triangle is over, and Belly is with the one she felt she was meant to be with. - @bookwormanonymous of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library
This is the second book in the summer I turned pretty series. Readers get to see the continuation of Belly and her blossoming relationships. This book goes through many past events that lead up to what really happened after they left the cottage. What was once her picture perfect relationship with Conrad turned sour after many events that took place the divided them. Belly must now confront her feelings and see if she can patch up her relationship with Conrad or if it is time to let go of the past. This is a great follow up to the first book and readers are able to get more insight into Belly and her indecisive mind. I suggest that anyone who read the first book, continue to read the rest of the series. You never know what can happen… -- @BakerBooks of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library
