Reviewed this awhile back but comment was gone after recent changes by my library. Anyway, the love at first sight for a young shop girl derailed the plans of a hit man who was set to follow rule number 4 but forgotten about rule number 2 (see quotes). Decent action flick.

I enjoyed the developing subplot of the relationship between Cage and the deaf young woman more than the hitman crapola.

Above average foreign language hitman action movie. I had actually seen the Nicholas Cage remake (similar, but not exactly the same movie) and liked it despite disliking Cage more often than not. The character development and story were good and the camerawork had a unique feel to it. The action was pretty good and the ending was fantastic.

Fair - Bangkok Dangerous (2008) 99 min. As I was watching this action flick, I couldn’t help reminiscing upon those action films of the 80s and 90s that became such a rage. They were fun to watch but completely mindless in nature. In this film, we have a hired assassin played by Nicholas Cage who we know nothing about (why he does what he does) going through the motions as he pops one guy after another. Cage’s lack of emotion and facial expression creates an invisible wall between him and his audience. He created a caricature and not a real person. If we can’t imagine what this man is feeling, we can’t empathize with him either; he befriends his messenger and falls for a Thai woman; both fall flat. Overall, the film is not a bad action film, it just lacks heart.

My job takes me to a lot of places. It's got its down sides. I sleep alone. I eat alone. I'm used to it, though. I'd like to meet someone. But it's tough when you live out of a suitcase. I go where I'm what I'm told. I shouldn't complain.
The work is steady. The money's good, but it's not for everyone. My name's Joe. This is what I do ... I was taught four rules:
One, ''Don't ask questions''. There is no such thing as right and wrong.
Two, ''don't take an interest in people outside of work''. There is no such thing as trust.
Three, ''Erase every trace''. Come anonymous and leave nothing behind.
Four, ''Know when to get out''. Just thinking about it. Means it's time before you lose your edge, before you become a target. So you look for the right opportunity. Nothing too risky. Get the money and disappear forever. This is it.
