"Our heroes are back. Kind of. First, the bad news: an ancient evil - you know, your standard consume-all-life-in-the-galaxy deal - is about to be unleashed. The good news? Squad 312 is standing by to save the day. They've just got to take care of a few small distractions first. Like the clan of gremps who'd like to rearrange their favorite faces. And the cadre of illegit GIA agents with creepy flowers where their eyes used to be, who'll stop at nothing to get their hands on Auri. Then there's Kal's long-lost sister, who's not exactly happy to see her baby brother, and has a Syldrathi army at her back. With half the known galaxy on their tails, Squad 312 has never felt so wanted." -- (Source of summary not specified)

This was a great addition to the Aurora_Cycles. It was definitely more chaotic than the first since Squad 312 is being hunted by basically everyone, with mysterious elements. I love the new characters they are awesome. Through these new characters, other aspects of the world and different species are explored. We also get to see a whole bunch more of the characters; some backstories, and character development, for better or worse. There are a couple of plot twists that stabbed me and twisted the knife, but what killed me was the ending. That ending was a major cliffhanger but productive to the plot all the way. Now the wait comes for the third book ( I think it comes 11/21). *le sigh* This was a great book though, and it built well off the first.

I enjoyed it, I suppose, but it also didn't feel like much happened. Except for at the end. Oh my frigging stars, I guess that's one way to ensure that people will read the next book. There will be a next book, right? Please? Anyway, the book was enjoyable, if a bit slow. The only major complaint I have concerns the plot twist, where a secret about Kal is revealed, and everyone basically reacts the same way, and that way is also kind of overdramatic and immature. While I get that they feel a bit betrayed, they don't really give Kal a chance to talk, and everything feels pretty blown out of proportion for a typical YA plot twist.

I believe that quote sums up just about how I feel after completing the stunning sequel to Aurora Rising! Amie and Jay knock it out of the park with this action packed book. Aurora Burning picks up right where the last one left off, and we're back with everyone's favorite squad 312! This book was exciting, fast-paced, and fun with a character driven plot. We get to see deeper into the backstories of our squad of heroes and just how much of a family they have become. The ending of this book had me turning pages as fast as I could... and I can honestly say the ending was phenomenal as well as painful. If you saw Avengers: Infinity War in theaters then that is about equal to the ending of this book. I am anxiously awaiting the next book already. If you love Six of Crows, Percy Jackson, Guardians of the Galaxy, or Star Trek then I would highly suggest checking out Aurora Rising and Aurora Burning.

The gangs all here!

Aurora Burning brings the gang of misfits back for another spacey adventure. I'm not sure that I would say it's better than the first book, Aurora Blazing, but it was certainly a close second. Squad 312 is divided both literally and figuratively, and that conflict is very much hampering the whole "saving the world" mission. Something makes me think that it will all work out in book 3.
