my favorite beatles album. originally slated to be called, EVEREST, it went out without a name, and the public named it by referring to it as THE WHITE ALBUM. the strongest cuts are by George, and this was somewhat of a coming out for him. Give it a listen, and see if you don't agree. He got his pal Clapton to play a guitar part on one of these ( WHILE MY GUITAR GENTLY WEEPS) The vocalisations by George on the outro of this song are really stunning). Not sure if John was part of that cut, at all (a prefiguring of the eventual dissolution of the group ). John and ' God 'eventually did collaborate, in the first incarnation of PLASTIC ONO BAND ( LIVE PEACE IN TORONTO, which also consisted of Klaus Voorman, on bass guitar, and local drummer, Alan White, (later to be Yes's drummer) ). Ringo left the group part way through; he felt unappreciated, so Paul took over the drumming duties (BACK IN THE USSR; DEAR PRUDENCE, etc.). They welcomed Ringo back with fulsome praise, especially from George. By the way, they referred to him as Ritchie, not as Ringo. So the immediately previous sentence scans better as meaning with' Ritchie' instead of with 'Ringo.' SAVOY TRUFFLE and LONG LONG LONG are also standout tracks. WHY DON'T WE DO IT IN THE ROAD. CRY BABY CRY. HEY BUNGALOW BILL ( THE CONTINUING STORY OF). MARTHA MY DEAR. OBLA-DI, OBLA DA. HELTER SKELTER. I'M SO TIRED. REVOLUTION #1. REVOLUTION # 9. Excellent album. A desert island disc. No numerical rating. " But if you go carrying pictures of Chairman Mao/ You ain't gonna make it with anyone, anyhow."

Great remaster of an amazing album. What can I say that hasn't already been said enough about this album? Nothing! It is still worth a listen. Happiness is a Warm Gun and Don't Pass Me By are some of the most underrated Beatles songs in my opinion.

So much to say!!!
One whole album CD of the Fab Four playing acoustic guitars. (The Fabulous 3 of John, Paul and George).
The entire band is having the time of their lives playing music that they enjoy. In no way was this ever met to be heard by any of us. (Thank you Capitol Records).
With the 3 CD'S you see the difference of produced and improvised Fab Four. Personally, give me tracks of music without producer George Martin at the controls. Now George was a genius but I like the intimacy of acoustic rather than electric guitars. I am not a fan of over dubs and other electronic effects.
Finally, the entire package is a welcome addition to the history of a remarkable band. I love the "White Album" even more with the additional material on the 50th Anniversary Edition!
P.S. How many outtakes is Capitol Records sitting on from all the other great albums of the Fab Four? Personally, I am going to keep me eyes open for some future surprises!

The White Album might be the most polarizing and misunderstood album of all time.

For those with strictly pop musical sensibilities, this album was seen as having a couple good songs and then a lot of pretentious artsiness.

To others, this album was praised for the risk taken by a major band in their prime to experiment with tape looping and other ways of sound manipulation as the main element of some songs while standard song structures took a backseat.

This album was daring in sound and content, acting as a political and musical statement.

When I was introduced to the Fabs in the very early 70s (just about when they broke up, or very shortly thereafter), my Fab friends who had earlier attempted to pants me*in one of theirs' front yard, on Barneson Street at Quince Street. . .This was made in vinyl ( as Neil Young says, 'a warmer sound.') *there had been a contentious MONOPOLY game, in the living room, as the newly purchased LET IT BE played on the home stereo. for some reason the pair wanted to see my genitalia. I held furiously onto my belt; they did not succeed. Later I checked out the library's copy of this one, and played it, a lot. My mother played her Engelbert records. My father played his Haydn records. My sister played her KYA and KFRC. I don't know what my 'little' brother was playing... he always played it cute.

This is not the "White Album" yet KCLS has patron reviews of library reviews describing the wrong album below. Now that we are done with that problem......I love the album. It is a very young and exciting fab four who are loving every moment of these songs. The tracks are early Beatles when they were just becoming noticed. These tracks are what would lead to record albums fan buying millions of this very album. (There just might be some great material here!)

Beatles White Album Perfect! Love It!

The most remarkable thing about the White Album to me is the amazing diversity of music contained within its tracks. I can't think of another record that comes close to matching it for the sheer diversity of styles and sounds. If you are bored listening to this one or can't find anything you like, well, you're a tough nut to crack.

Has some great songs, but generally is my least liked Beatles album, because it has the only Beatles songs I actually hate; such as Helter Skelter. Also has the worst album cover by far. Who thought a plain white cover was exciting? Anyone think The White Album cover is more interesting than say Sgt. Peppers?

Most overrated Beatles album ever. Always heard of how great the "White Album" was since the late 70's when as a teen and just started H.S. I am a big Beatles fan and have most of their EMI, Apple, or Capitol LP releases in my collection but not this one as it was always a costly double album with only a few songs familiar with. Thanks to KCLS, hearing the whole album for the first time. other than the few already know, most of these songs are not very listenable and do not bring any source of pleasure at all. Their Sgt. Pepper LP deserves the accolades it gets but not this double CD piece of mostly garbage.
