"A groomsman and his last-minute guest are about to discover if a fake date can go the distance in a fun and flirty debut novel. Agreeing to go to a wedding with a guy she gets stuck with in an elevator is something Alexa Monroe wouldn't normally do. But there's something about Drew Nichols that's too hard to resist. On the eve of his ex's wedding festivities, Drew is minus a plus one. Until a power outage strands him with the perfect candidate for a fake girlfriend. From the best man's toast to the bouquet toss, Alexa and Drew have more fun than they ever thought possible. But before they know it, Drew has to fly back to Los Angeles and his job as a pediatric surgeon, and Alexa heads home to Berkeley, where she's the mayor's chief of staff. Too bad they can't stop thinking about the other. They're just two high-powered professionals on a collision course toward the long distance dating disaster of the century--or closing the gap between what they think they need and what they truly want."-- Provided by publisher

I am having a tough time reviewing this book as I am torn between I loved this book and I hated it so I am going the in between route.
I wanted to love it which I did for about almost half way through but then it got very annoying. Yes, the whole story was predictable which I would have been fine with (to be fair I am fine with the ending) but it did get very repetitive and I felt like things were thrown in there just to increase the length of the story.
I loved the interracial couple thing and did not know about this particular bit until I started reading it. I liked Alexa for the most part but she did annoy me when she was being so immature and had a fit at the party just like that. And speaking of immature, Drew was immature for the most part and although I liked him I liked Alexa better. I liked how they were carrier driven. I also liked the instant chemistry between them.
I did not like the repetitive things from half way through to the end of the story. I did not like how Carlos were there just help Drew realize his feelings for Alexa and how he got abused for being a good and caring friend. I know nothing else about Carlos except that he is best friends with Drew and his ethnicity. I still don't know why Theo was in the story except for sending few work emails and get donuts and stuff like that.
I wish the characters were a bit more mature and the story had a bit more depth to it and a lot less annoying to read.

I wanted to enjoy this book, but I could never really get into the story. I blame Drew for this- I just couldn't feel much attraction to his character. It wasn't that he was bad- it was that he was blah and entitled. I constantly felt like Alexa was the only real person in the relationship.

I enjoyed the love story of Drew and Alexa. It was very satisfying to read. I can't wait to find out more about them!

I thought the initial wedding date was a cute intro, but then the story continues to repeat the same scene seemingly over and over. The small things the main duo fights over are really idiotic and not worth writing a book about.

little to no chemistry. The wedding (arguably the best part) is done within the first hundred pages. The main characters have sex, fight, have make up sex, repeat. Drew is an asshole and his perspective really wrecks his character 99% of the time. Alexa is an insecure mess. All of their problems could’ve been solved with some simple communication.

Cute story, but too drawn out for an entire book. I got bored in several parts, thinking, this again?

A light-hearted and entertaining book about a fake date between Alexa and Drew. Their attraction keeps drawing them together until they realize they may just have a real relationship...

I actually enjoyed this book! It didn't take you "around the world" to get to the point. I enjoyed the sweet yet "hey this couldn't possibly happen" love story of Alexa and Drew.

This was just okay. It’s a easy read that moves quick. The issue with her sister was overly dramatic and the reasoning for her program were questionable. The main character eats terribly which is an odd comment but seriously it’s noticeable!

A meet-cute encounter that leads to a great contemporary romantic page-turner.

Sexual Content: Book contains sex scenes between two adults. The sex between the two leads is pretty vanilla and is vaguely written. Readers of other romances won't find anything too distressing.
