The French Resistance was crucial to defeating Hitler in World War II. Many of the members were female. The danger was very real. The Nazis had no qualms about torturing and murdering women suspecting of subversive activities. This is the story of two sisters who sacrificed any chance of having a normal life to save France and their homeland, England. Their survival was due to their determination and adaptability in crucially risky situations. The book is well paced and thoughtfully constructed, with extensive research to provide a clear picture of the successes and failures of the English SOE organization.
