I highly recommend both books in Zia Wesley's The Veil and Crown series.

In this, volume 2, Aimée Dubucq de Rivery and Marie-Joséph Rose Tascher are established as the Valide Sultana of the Ottoman Empire and Empress Josephine Bonaparte respectively.

I love learning about history by reading historical fiction. Often a competent novelist can do more to convey the truth of the times and those who influenced them than a non-fictional biography or narrative.
