This book has details from a good cross-section of cave art. The author is one of the world's best experts. Comments about each photograph show the author's personal experience with the locations... for instance, several times the location of an image is described in terms that show the author has entered that cave and stood before that image. In spite of the European-centred viewpoint of cave art experts, Clotte has made a particular effort to show a few examples from other continents as well. Cosquer is under-represented in this collection probably because Clotte hasn't visited it yet, not only because it was newly-discovered, but because of the dangerous underwater entrance to the cave.
