"The essential universe, from our most celebrated and beloved astrophysicist. What is the nature of space and time? How do we fit within the universe? How does the universe fit within us? There's no better guide through these mind-expanding questions than acclaimed astrophysicist and best-selling author Neil deGrasse Tyson. But today, few of us have time to contemplate the cosmos. So Tyson brings the universe down to Earth succinctly and clearly, with sparkling wit, in tasty chapters consumable anytime and anywhere in your busy day. While you wait for your morning coffee to brew, for the bus, the train, or a plane to arrive, Astrophysics for People in a Hurry will reveal just what you need to be fluent and ready for the next cosmic headlines: from the Big Bang to black holes, from quarks to quantum mechanics, and from the search for planets to the search for life in the universe"-- Provided by publisher

Wow! This was written so well that even though I didn't understand some of the physics - I knew what I was reading about. DeGrasse Tyson's passion, knowledge, and intelligence come through in such an easy-to-read way. If anyone who reads this was not curious about the universe before - they will be after. His final chapter is the icing on the cake!

It's also a LOT of information very quickly, which means I'm going to retain not all that much of it. But it makes me want to sit under the stars and think for a while, so that's very worth it. I wish it had been a little less meandering, but I think that's the nature of the book: bite sized pieces of information that you probably aren't meant to read in one sitting. Regardless: you're made of star dust, and you're beautiful.

Very disappointing, given all the high reviews. Book started out very intriguingly, but then seemed to be semi-directionless and unsubstantial. Granted, some of that would be expected from the title, but instead of hitting fast and hard, as it seemed to offer in the first chapter, it instead drifted towards whimsy, and spent valuable time there.

The perfect book for the non-scientist to learn about how humans are interconnected with all things in the universe.

This book talks about the science behind the creation and expansion of the universe in terms that are generally quite easy to follow. I started this book by listening to it in audio format but I found the information was coming at me too quickly and I was missing a lot of it. I switched over to a print copy and took my time with it, and my comprehension shot right up. The information is fascinating and really created for regular non-science people to enjoy. Also, it is quite a short book that you could probably read in 2-3 days. It just gives you enough information to dazzle you without bogging you down. I would highly recommend giving it a try.
