Most of these stories drew me in from the first few paragraphs and became page-turners. I especially enjoyed the longer ones, Claud's Dog and The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar.

A compilation of his short stories for adults. If you like surprising, unexpected twists and often macabre endings..you will love this book! Several of these stories were adapted (as I found out after reading them) for 'Alfred Hitchcock Presents" and a whole british TV series called "Tales of the Unexpected". Dahl is best known for his children's stories "James and the Giant Peach" and "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory"
