If you are looking for high drama and a lot of twists and turns, this is not the movie for you. But, if you are looking for a small movie about a regular family that is trying to make its way despite the fact that the dad is in prison, this is for you. This is exceedingly well-acted. One almost thinks they are watching a documentary. The focus is on mom and dad, but the small kids are also so real. Dad's incarceration affects them all. Love conquers all. Director Michael Winterbottom has really captured something here.

I've liked J. Simm & recognized S. Henderson from a very old PBS program (The Way we live Now) but this drama was way too real Brit life. Probably US life also. Drug charges, jail, too many children to be well cared for, hopeless events, cyclical lifestyles. Depressed with this & found it heartbreaking. The little boys hardly have a chance short of a miracle. Everyday people, everyday families?

This is a family drama from the UK. The acting by the four young children in the family is great. As the film was shot over the course of several years you actually get to see them grow on the screen. However, the film does not entertain the audience much otherwise.

Totally boring!

John Simm is such a versatile actor and so completely becomes the role he plays. No exception here. A simple drama about a normal, everyday family - except the father is in prison. As the story develops, there are subtle yet distinctive changes that happen to the family members.

The enormously talented Michael Winterbottom is the co-writer and director. The acting - especially the children - is superb. A heartbreaking yet hopeful story.

This wasn't the worst movie I've ever seen, it is far from being good. I fast forwarded a lot but not all the way. "Very predictable"

Really enjoyed this story about how a family copes with the father in prison.
