Okay, so the acting isn't that great - a bit over-the-top for my liking but the tension is thick enough to cut with a knife throughout which, if you happen to be watching in the middle of the night, is pretty darned creepy. I didn't get the big deal about "dealing a blow to Christianity." I thought the plot was simple enough without adding that element, good vs evil. I disappointed in the ending but I have only seen the first 3 episodes. I hope the storyline continues in future episodes.

Pretty good and interesting BBC television. Gorgeous British ladies in here! Interesting look at the satanic cult.

A disappointing series! With so many great actors in it, I expected better! Perhaps, the problem is with the poor script! It has its good moments, but I don't recommend it as a whole!

NOT a good adaptation of the book! Too many things had been changed, and I could not get past that fact. I couldn't watch episodes 2 & 3--episode 1 was such a disappointment. :(

A good adaptation of the book (although not sure why Lol isn't a musician). A different take on the usual British mystery, examining evil as a spiritual force, with a human manifestation.

This was a very short mini-series that's supposed to be about a female reverend in Britain studying to be an exorcist. There is really no "studying". Her mentor gives her name to the cops on a case before she's really trained and that man, Denzel Joy, dies with her praying over him and then haunts her for the rest of the season. He was a satan worshipper and his followers are preparing to use Merrily's bratty teenage daughter as a sacrifice. It was kind of boring. Too many details were left out so it was hard to follow along. The last episode was a huge letdown because the event they were preparing for was described in about 2 minutes. :( Can't say I'd recommend it.

Two genres I love together at last! Supernatural and British Mystery!!! Vicar Merrily Watkins in a new deliverance minister struggling to raise a teenage daughter and prove to herself she can do this new job. A murder with sacrilegious overtones put her new skills to the test. Love this...hoping for a second season!!

Creepy story, well-acted, about a murder with occult overtones being investigated by the local vicar, Merrily Watkins (oddly named, for this story). Her daughter's increasing estrangement plays right into the hands of those who would subvert the Church, and there's a suspenseful climax where their stories are woven together. Merrily must finally overcome her own insecurities regarding her past and her faith.
