With a growing discography (http://www.allmusic.com/artist/yuja-wang-mn0001713512/discography) Yuja Wang has been the one to watch as far as piano soloists go these past 7 years. I first encountered her playing on the recording Masterpieces in Miniature performing Henry Litolff's Scherzo from the Concerto Symphonique No. 4, a sparkling bonbon with the San Francisco Symphony which the "pianist Yuja Wang delivers with wit and virtuosic skill". I subsequently purchased her recording of the Rachmaninov Piano Concerto # 3 (https://sno-isle.bibliocommons.com/item/show/1336356121_rachmaninov_3) and it has become a favorite on my playlist. AllMusic Reviewer Blair Sanderson says of this Ravel recording by Wang, "As a concerto soloist, Yuja Wang is best known for playing the Russian blockbusters of Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninov, and Prokofiev, but this all-French album from Deutsche Grammophon reveals her talents in a different light. Maurice Ravel's Piano Concerto in G major and his Piano Concerto for the Left Hand in D major are among the most effervescent in the repertoire, and Wang sparkles with charm and energy, sometimes giving a feeling of being lighter than air when playing with the Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich, under the direction of Lionel Bringuier." I wholeheartedly agree.
