Captive is a thrilling novel about the kidnapping of Robyn Knollys-Green, the daughter of the British prime minister. However, I am quite disappointed with this book. To begin, the introduction is very short and the kidnapping takes place before the readers get a chance to learn about the characters. Next, I found the plot unrealistic. The entire hostage situation seemed fake and completely made-up. Furthermore, I still do not understand the motive of the terrorists. While I understand the importance of cruelty free testing, I doubt that it would actually drive people to kidnap someone. Lastly, I strongly dislike the romance between Robyn and Samuel. I understand the author is trying to add some romance into the novel as Samuel is conveniently 19 but I find it rather revolting. Again, it is completely unrealistic! I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a quick read but nothing more. Rating: 2.5/5 stars
