Movie was a dud, hope the actors where paid well, and someone got something of value from an otherwise train wreck of an endeavor.

Perfect casting in Pacino, Bening, Garner and, of course, Mr. Christopher Plummer.

Delightful story -- even heart-warming.

Ricki and the flash but with a better script. Meryl got Rick Springfield and Al got John Lennon. The tried and true story of a rock star making amends with his family/past.

Supposed to be based on true events. Never heard of Danny Collins. May have to Google him. Great John Lennon music.
Watch the credits to see who wrote all the songs. Bonus features interesting * * * * *
Like to watch Jennifer & Annette great roles.

Pacino gave a good portrayal of an old but still successful solo rocker who decided to reconnect with his ONLY son whom he had NEVER met, inspired by a John Lennon's letter to a real folk artist Steve Tilston. Too bad Pacino could not hold a tune but thank goodness it had a parade of Lennon hits as the sound track. Other than with his manager, Collin's relationships with his son, trophy wife and the hotel manager seemed either quixotic or put-ons. On the other hand, may be that was the characteristic painted intentionally by the director and writers.

Great story about a sell-out/burn-out pop star who realizes what's important late in life and tries to make it right. Al Pacino is awesome as is the rest of the cast, and the wonderful music of John Lennon in the background. I loved this movie.

Casting Pacino as a 'rock' star was a bizarre choice. Thankfully his gravelly crooning was minimal. Having Bobby Cannavale as his estranged offspring was an excellent choice, however. The film was quaint, and relied on its casting (the aforementioned, Plummer, Bening, the little hyperactive brat...) to pull it off, along with the guaranteed home run of the Lennon soundtrack, and I think they did. I was entertained.

Frank: So, your birthday's tomorrow. Is that your big problem? Pregnant women in Africa, feeding half their village from their titties. Those ladies got problems. Not you.
===
Lennon;s letter: "... Being rich and famous doesn't change the way you think. It doesn't corrupt your art. Only you can do that. So, what do you think about that, Danny Collins? Stay true to your music. Stay true to yourself. ..."
===
Mary: I'm sorry, are you on drugs?
Collins: Currently or in general?
===
Tom: I'm sorry, but I'm not seeing your point.
Frank: The point, my boy, is that he's got a good heart. He just keeps it up his ass half the time.
