I really loved Kirra but I just couldn't be happy reading a book about an affair with a doomed ending. The rest of the plot was interesting and I was so happy that all of the main characters were in it. I have a feeling I'll still love the rest of the series, just not this one.

The second book fo the Twelve Houses series, I was a little thrown to find the story did not continue with Senneth as the main protagonist, but rather Kirra. I found the first half of the book very difficult to make it through, but then I could not put it down.

The end to this book was heart wrenching. Shinn has an awesome ability to create a world full of complex situations and characters going through very personal relationships in those worlds.

I gave it three stars because it just felt really slow the first 200 pages. That said, I can't wait to see what the larger story progresses into, even though I am not entirely thrilled to follow a different protagonist.

This was my least enjoyed book of this series. It wasn't horrible but I didn't agree with a lot of it. Basically Kira gets involved with a married man, and I just don't like that sort of thing. Also, I found the endless parties to be rather boring. I didn't feel like much was trully gained from this part of the series except learning a bit more about Kira's magic.

I liked this just as much as the first one. Entirely from Kirra's view, it gets deeper into her personality and life than another book about the group. 2nd book after Mystic and Rider.

Very enjoyable! Not quite as good as "Mystic and Rider," the first book in the series, but very good nonetheless!
