In recent years, many people are redefining their American Dream to focus on flexibility, financial freedom, and quality of life over quantity of space. These self-proclaimed "Tiny Housers" live in homes smaller than the average parking space, often built on wheels to bypass building codes and zoning laws. Tiny takes viewers inside six of these homes stripped to their essentials, exploring the owners' stories and the design innovations that make them work

This indie documentary follows Christopher Smith, who upon approaching his 30th birthday purchases five acres of land in the Coloradan countryside and decides to build his own Tiny House on wheels. Accompanied by his girlfriend Merete Mueller (who also wrote and directed the film) Christopher slowly but steadily brings his dream to realization, despite battling financial setbacks and far-exceeding his original goal to complete the house in three months. Sprinkled throughout the film are interviews with six other Tiny House owners who explain the reasoning behind their choices and why it is they are content to live in 200 square feet or less. Viewers who are unfamiliar with the Tiny House movement may find themselves wishing for more detail on the building process or information concerning the legalities, but in the end the heart of the film’s focus is the people themselves, not the walls that surround them.

I enjoyed how the documentary was filmed, very original and true to life. It included the process (although not in-depth, would've liked to see other components that I'm sure are critical to the foundation...), interviews with other like-minded tiny house owners and how they live, and the impact people can make on space.
This doc will definitely have you wish for a Tiny house and become aware of the space we use.

Take an hour out of your day to watch this film about a young Colorado couple who build a tiny (fewer than 200 sf) home. It follows the construction of the home from beginning to end, and along the way, the filmakers add interviews of other tiny house owners. I loved how the proponents of tiny houses suggest - in a very gentle way - that all of us - whether we live in a tiny house or a big house - can consider how to use our planet's finite space & resources as wisely as possible.

pretty much like an episode of the tiny house shows on tv - they tend to leave out a lot of the details of water supply, sewage, source of electricity, although this doc had some of that information. I liked the way Chris listened to instruction videos on his phone or computer as he did the electrical work and operated a sewing machine.

This documentary follows a young couple as they build a tiny house on a trailer in rural Colorado. While they develop new skills in carpentry, electrical wiring, and plumbing, they also learn that the project takes longer and costs more than they expected. "The devil is in the details" of water supply, sewage disposal, and interior layout which this video glosses over - in the interest of inspiration. The documentary offers short clips of tiny house experts.
