Grandiose and intimate, Wes Anderson’s characters keep their cool as their lives evolve from environments dripping in opulence to gray-scale communist cell blocks and back. Funny, beautiful, stylish and sentimental, I can watch this film over and over and I always notice new details. An all-time fave. ❤️ Mr Gustave 🗝

So weirdly funny. I didn't get a lot of the jokes, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Watched this star-studded movie filled with interesting and quirky characters for the 3rd time last night. It always delights me and maybe the 4th time I'll get to spend more time looking at the grand hotel interiors in this fabulous movie. Each time I identify another actor playing a character in this sensually delightful film. When politics gets too rough around the edges, this movie is a great distraction.

Beautiful visually and highly stylized but I didn't understand the point to this movie. I guess celebration of a bygone time and anti-war.

Watched this on Netflix before they took it off tomorrow. It's a colourful movie and very visually gratifying, although vulgar at times. Loved the third act of the movie where it had this James Bond feel to it with two goofy characters and the character Zero also made a sort of Napolian Dynamite type of frame. Well acted by other cast.

As some one that found this movie charming and very funny I do have to warn that the humor is something that I dont think is for everyone. It seems to be some sort of cheesy take on classy humor, with vulgar and brutal moments to sort of make a really silly movie. It does have lighthearted moments too. But for me its more the cheesiness of it with just shots that ooze a style. I suggest you read up on reviews if you are on the fence and need a push. Because although I loved it, when I saw it in theaters, I was the only one laughing their ass off. So You have been warned.

Another enchanting tapestry from the masterful Wes Anderson. He creates a beautiful, rich world based on Pre-World War II central Europe. While Ralph Fiennes is particularly outstanding, this is a wonderful cast from top to bottom, characteristic of any Wes Anderson movie. Possibly his best work, or at least up there with The Royal Tenenbaums, The Life Aquatic, and Moonrise Kingdom.

I was really looking forward to seeing this movie.
I thought it would be whimsical and charming. It was vulgar and crass.
I turned it off after 20 minutes or so, and it was a push to get that far. I kept thinking it would get better.
It got worse.
Big disappointment.

Rated 2/10. I was under the impression that this was supposed to be a comedy. Rather, it's just a silly and bizarre movie.

This complete waste of time is valuable only as a sleep aid. Only someone as stupid as a liberal would like it. It is pretentious, foolish, but most of all boring--fodder for libs.

Moustafa on Gus:
--There are still faint glimmers of civilization left in this barbaric slaughterhouse that was once known as humanity... He was one of them. What more is there to say?
--To be frank, I think his world had vanished long before he ever entered it - but, I will say: he certainly sustained the illusion with a marvelous grace!

Gus: I must say, I find that girl utterly delightful. Flat as a board, enormous birthmark the shape of Mexico over half her face, sweating for hours on end in that sweltering kitchen (in the bakery), while Mendl, ...
