Cutie and the Boxer is one of the best documentaries I've seen that has a focus on contemporary art. It's also as much about the couple, their marriage, personal challenges and eccentricities as it is about their art. It was nominated for the Documentary (Feature) Oscar and won the Directing Award at the Sundance Film Festival. The film is rated R for nude art images.

If I want to read a crap boring movie I would read a book. Wow rated 3-1/2 stars really. I lasted about 10 minutes in and fast forward a little and it was the same boring crap.

No documentary has so clearly shown the life of artists. "Cutie and the Boxer" is for those of us who dabble in painting or appreciate going to an art showing. The joys and sacrifices of an artist will clearly not be for all KCLS patrons. "Cutie and the Boxer" has unexpected humor and sadness. It is the story of the struggle to support ones self as an artist. It is a remarkable story and for those who are art lovers, a not to be missed movie!

The lives of artists are not easy and life as an artistic couple can be especially difficult. This intimate and frank documentary looks at two artists as they juggle the joys and challenges of both a family life and creative careers. The film does not hold back and shows the dysfunction and faultlines of their relationship as well as their joys and triumphs.

Loved this Doc so much. As artists we struggle. some more than others. Both of these artists are awesome to watch and hear. I felt so much love for them both. Thank you to the director who made this. Cutie big love to you for loving a man not for what you wanted him to be but because of the love of art, yours and his

An 'intimate' look at a fascinating creative couple,.. and an interesting window into the impact of heavy drinking on art and family.

He seems to be doing the same cardboard motorcycle sculptures and boxing 'action' paintings both at the beginning and at the end of his career,.. and in-between !

And it looks as though she went to some Al-anon meetings (not documented),.. and gained her artistic and personal freedom !

The director-photographer, and this is his first film, won "Best Director" award at the Sundance Film Festival. This film is a beautiful and touching look at a long lasting marriage between two artists who are very different from one another. It's about creativity and the struggles that come with staying true to ones calling. The two artists are very comfortable expressing themselves in front of the camera. It's a very honest look at life and how life can be expressed through ones art. I loved this film, it brought tears to my eyes and made me laugh out loud.
