Hadley is an excellent writer, she makes you feel like you are actually a part of the novel, really enjoyed this book.

Sympathy and empathy here. Sympathy for an English single parent with entertaining drama. English empathy for others in single parent and only child homes.

A story for both parent and child that seek to better understand and know about each other.
This book gives a raw, true look at a life lived. The emotions are true and real.

This is a story of a woman looking back at her life from the age of 50 and of the times in which she lived. It provides a sense of class from the perspective of a person who is poor, marginal and rich. I did not like that her life was defined by her relationships with men and in the end, unlike Hadley's other books, it does not rise above domestic fiction.

This book interested me from beginning to end. You feel you are right there in the room in every scene.
