Took me an episode to understand the humour but enjoyed it immensely. Will order all the rest of the DVD's in series. Comical but still has a serious side. Very entertaining and I'm not even Italian - ha!

This prequel, 4-6, had both strengths and weaknesses as opposed to prequel, 1-3: it was enjoyable to watch Montalbano deepen his relationship with Livia romantically, accept her gentle nudging into reconnecting with his estranged father, and his improved getting to know his staff better. However, there was an esoteric religious plotline that had little logic to it. Also noticing that the women's roles usually don't have much depth (which does, in its odd way, lead to a continual punch line for Mimi as the local Don Juan). Besides Livia, is anyone actually a working professional?

I loved this detective drama!
I have already saw Salvo Montalbano had successfully solved 6 mystery murdered cases. (Episodes 1-3 and 4-6).
I am waiting for more episodes!

Loved this entire series. Often bizarrely hilarious, considering these are murder/crime stories.

Immensely appealing characters, especially the hysterical Catarella. Mercifully devoid of vulgarity, preachiness, and political correctness. Music is excellent and perfectly suited to the characters and stories.
And lots of food references ("What, there's a pesto strike?").
Thoroughly enjoyable; wish there were more episodes.

Love, love, love this series. Just enough intrigue, great characters, but not too heavy. Just get past the subtitles and enjoy. Highly recommend.
