The novel starts with a well respected barrister strangled and left tied up naked in a seedy hotel. A mystery women and a band leader are somehow involved and then a second similar murder occurs. Gemma and her second, Melody, untangle the twisted plot. Crombie's flashbacks gives the reader hints as to the murderer. And Kincaid, although home on paternity leave, still manages some unofficial investigations.
A well written procedural, a very good read and another Crombie novel recommended.

Another good entry in the James/Kincaid series. Gemma and Melody are front and center investigating the murders of two lawyers. Duncan is a temporary stay at home dad and Doug is laid up with a broken ankle. Some characters from other books show up and all is very enjoyable. Although I thought the murderer was too obvious from the start, turns out I was wrong. A nice surprise.

As usual, Deborah Crombie produces an excellent book.
