Now he's just showing off. OK, let's write an elaborate, twisty mystery and then include a soundtrack with lyrics that are interspersed in the story to provide clues to the reader. While very Deaver and very good, I think, on occasion, he's just jerking the reader's chain for the sake of jerking it, i.e. bordering on manipulative.

A must read if you are a Deaver fan. The many twists keep you reading well into the night. Is it the stalker or not? Great read.

Convoluted.

Not the most interesting read for people who do not follow pop culture and the lives of media darlings. but good plot twists and police work.

Some unexpected twists and turns. The book doesn't get better until you are about half way through it - that's why I only gave it three stars.

A good story but a little tedious in places.

This is a classic Jeffery Deaver novel, complete with twists and turns, with a surprise around every corner, right to the very last page. An interesting look at Katherine Dancer's life outside of the CBI as a songcatcher. I was pleasantly surprised by the appendix, composed of country/folk song lyrics, all by Jeffrey Deaver, who once was a folksinger himself. If you want to know more about songcatchers, check out the Aidan Quinn movie "Songcatcher." available at BPL.

Half of the book at the start read like a biography of a young country singer, not a typical thriller by J. Deaver. Also, the book should have ended before the final few chapters which extended the story with a hard to believe twist in events.

Another winner from Jeffrey Deaver. Deaver delivers a consistent stream of complex mystery thrillers that focus on "detail" to unravel the crime. This latest offering featuring Kathryn Dance is a thoroughly enjoyable read that also provides a glimpse of the business side of the music industry.
