Fair suspense/espionage (?) movie. Not sure how to catagorize it. Interesting to see Wayne and Bacall interact, because they are different types of actors, but neither one brings out the best in the other. Duke should have stuck with Robert Mitchum or Humphrey Bogart in lead, beacause the role has an anti-hero quality to it and each would have worked better with Bacall. Too bad he was forced as producer to economize and hire himself as the steam ship captain.
