Add a CommentGood lesson about learning to love what you have, and embracing others' differences. Both my 2 and 5 years olds enjoyed this story time and time again.
The first laugh in this book is on just Day Two of the goldfish's diary. I thought that was a good sign. I was right. Each of the unwelcome additions to the goldfish's bowl is described by an increasingly anguished fish, until something has to give! Even though the end was no surprise to me, Scillian paces the humor and the plot so well, I didn't mind. And Boy Detective thought it was fantastic.
My Kids and I both loved it. The illustrations are wonderful.
Adorable story. Lots of laughs. Son started a diary after reading this.
A cute little story of a goldfish in a small bowl who is bored in his little bowl. Then he wakes us one day to find that someone else has been placed in his bowl, and he doesn't know how to deal with this. Every day there after, he wakes up to find more and more fish packed into his small bowl. He begins to panic, realizing he is running out of space. But in his panic, his misses an important detail.
Cute illustrations will appeal to the young reader. This would be a great book for teachers introducing the diary format to their students.
What a fun read!
