How can you make cakes, cookies, and candy even MORE fun? Award-winning blogger Heather Baird, a vibrant new voice in the culinary world, has the answer: Cook like an artist! Combining her awesome skills as a baker, confectioner, and painter, she has created a gorgeous, innovative cookbook, designed to unleash the creative side of every baker.   Heather sees dessert making as one of the few truly creative outlets for the home cook. So, instead of arranging recipes by dessert type (cookies, tarts, cakes, etc.), she has organized them by line, color, and sculpture. As a result, SprinkleBakes is at once a breathtakingly comprehensive dessert cookbook and an artist's instructional that explains brush strokes, sculpture molds, color theory, and much more. With easy-to-follow instructions and beautiful step-by-step photographs, Heather shows how anyone can make her jaw-dropping creations, from Mehndi Hand Ginger Cookies to Snow Glass Apples to her seasonal masterpiece, a Duraflame#65533;-inspired Yule Log..

When Tennessee artist Heather Baird takes to the kitchen, she creates beautiful desserts that pop with colour and delight with flavour. The genius behind acclaimed food blog "SprinkleBakes" released her debut cookbook of the same name in May.

"SprinkleBakes" contains beautiful photography both of the completed desserts and of the close-up details of specific techniques and ingredients. Additionally, Baird divides the book not by type of recipe but by technique or medium eg. "Blank Canvases," "Line" and "Color." "Blank Canvases" contains recipes for undecorated cookies, cakes, and candies; other chapters build on the basics, providing recipes for icings and toppings as well as describing decorating techniques that turn a plain dessert into a work of art.

From origami cookies to individual grasshopper pies to freeform lollipops, "SprinkleBakes" inspires joy and creativity. Baird provides well-written and clear instructions for mastering her techniques and tips for using decorative ingredients, making the book a fantastic resource for the creative baker.

I'm really liking this book! Lots of great dessert recipes & ideas that are easily adapted to fit my needs. It was also great to see photographs & text that was effective to instruct the user with some of the more 'daunting' concepts.
