Japan has a rich and exciting culture that combines strong traditions and a fascinating history with a championing of innovation and modernity. Japan has become one of the strongest stages for fashion and style in the world and this book showcases the most exciting looks from this global fashion centre. All the most influential designers such as John Galliano, Dior, Vivienne Westwood, Paul Smith and Alexander McQueen have looked to Tokyo for inspiration from within its rich visual culture of fine textiles and techniques. Street style in Japan combines this historic sense of style with the most contemporary and cutting-edge looks and this book includes one-of-a-kind photographs of all the major fashion tribes from Gothic Lolita and Harajuku to Dolly Kei, Ganguro and Kigurumi to the popularity of the furry tail, this is the complete contemporary Japanese fashion collection.

Not until I walked into a store in SF's Japantown, "Baby, The Stars Shine Bright", had I ever given much thought to the highly stylized fashion of Japanese teens and 20-somethings. There, I saw the sort of clothing I'd only seen in pictures - and occasionally in person - and was dumbfounded that a) it cost so very much and b) that anyone would wear this stuff.

Japanese Street Style is a really interesting and fascinating photo book depicting Japanese fashion among the young set. The beginning of the book defines each of themany styles and then it's basically photos and captions.

If you want to get your creative juices flowing or see some people whose creative juices are already flowing, check out this book. I really enjoyed paging through it
