Sometimes I had a hard time following it, but I did come away with a much better understanding of String Theory and some of the nuts and bolts. I would recommend it.

Much of the string theory was over my head but I enjoyed getting a general sense of what it's about.

Honestly, I was not too zealous about reading this book, but I had no choice because it was my summer reading book. I am very indolent when it comes to reading genres I do not like, so I did not bother reading it until I realized I had no other books to read at home. So, I gave it a try. It contains many challenging vocabulary words and it made it difficult. Thankfully, it contained a scientific glossary filled with terms mentioned in the story. Deciding not to give up because of one hindrance, I read on longer and realized how true and interesting the boom really was.

Lots of details about relativity, quantum theory and string theory. I do not know if it is possible to get any sort of intuitive appreciation of string theory, but I did not get this from this book.

Greene does an admirable job laying out the difficulties in unifying Einstein's special theory of relativity and quantum mechanics: what to do about gravity? Greene is a leading proponent and populizer of string theory.
