Well written, amusing, honest. At times the book is a little jarring in how different events are recounted, but this is, in my opinion, its only flaw.

I haven't read Catch-22, nor did I know this book was written my Joseph Heller's daughter. I picked it up from where it was prominently displayed on the top shelf and because the title intrigued me. Throughout, I read about the adventures of famous people and situations I could never find myself in. Being a friend or family member of Joseph Heller, at least how Erica recounts things, makes everything, even normal events, not so normal. But for all the fame and glamour her father enjoyed, the book doesn't shy away from turmoil. Amidst the high-rolling, the book starkly recounts the harsh disintegration of marriage, struggles with illnesses, and the final passing on of each of her parents.

Names of famous authors and other stars weave in and out, but the main characters -- Erica's immediate family -- are the real characters, and the most colourful. It is a sometimes rollicking, and also down-to-earth family retelling.

I loved this book. It is so interesting and so well written. Funny too. And poignant.
