As a journalist becomes a "guinea pig" in the world of memory championships, he explores the history and science of human memory. From ancient storytellers through the evolution of written language, memory has long been prized as a sign of intellect. Though there are some tips on training your memory, this thought-provoking book is more philosophical than a how-to guide.

I quite enjoyed this book. Filled with facts about the human brain and memory woven into a story.

This book was very interesting and filled with many facts about the human brain and memory. I personally found it to be a really slow read, but I'm glad I finished it. It was just alright.

This is not the best book on memory techniques, but it is a very good book on the subject, especially for the uninitiated. And if you would like a fun and enjoyable read to get you started, this would be the place to start. From here read "Mind Performance Hacks"

Very enjoyable and captivating book. Opened my eyes to a world I never knew existed. I was fascinated enough to dive into many other books concerning memory, but this is definitely a great initiation into the subject. It was very objectively written and winked at absurdity of the subject while yet drawing you into the personalities and the science of it.

Very Interesting information definitely a must read.

The unlikely journey of an ordinary reporter to a U.S. Memory Champion. Ever heard of the World Memory Championships? Find out! You and the author learn to apply techniques that call on imagination as much as memory - learn about creating your own memory palaces and memorizing all kinds of lists! A book that really makes you think - and remember!

Very interesting psychological information about memory and cognition. This isn't a step-by-step guide to memory training but I was definitely able to take some of the techniques and use them without a lot of work, and the book convinced me it doesn't really take much to pull off pretty incredible feats of remembering.
