Sawako's chance to become friends with Yano and Yoshida is about to go down the drain when rumors start flying that Yano's been around the block and Yoshida's a former gang member. And the source of all this tattle is Sadako herself. Will Sadako retreat to her former life as a loner because of a simple misunderstanding? "Sawako Kuronuma is the perfect heroine...for a horror movie. With striking similarities to a haunting movie character--jet-black hair, sinister smile and silent demeanor--she's mistakenly called Sadako by those around her. But behind her scary facade is a very misunderstood teenager. Too shy to fit in, all she wants to do is make some friends. But when the most popular boy in class befriends her, she's sure to make more than just that--she's about to make some enemies too!"--Cover

Despite the way I raised my eyebrows at the cover, this volume was very good. I loved seeing how Sawako really had to fight to keep the friends she just got, and how even her relationship with Kazahaya-kun was a bit strained. Even though she did everything she did out of love for her friends, she didn't realize that what she was doing was hurting them more than what other people were saying about them. It was a very heartfelt volume, and I loved to see the interaction between Yano-san, Yoshida-san, and Sawako. They'll make very strong friends indeed. I am seriously loving this series so far. Read it. It's not your typical shojo, in that it's more slice of life, has more depth, and is much more than "cutesy-wutesy".
