Sawako's chance to become friends with Yano and Yoshida is about to go down the drain when rumors start flying that Yano's been around the block and Yoshida's a former gang member. And the source of all this tattle is Sadako herself. Will Sadako retreat to her former life as a loner because of a simple misunderstanding? "Sawako Kuronuma is the perfect heroine...for a horror movie. With striking similarities to a haunting movie character--jet-black hair, sinister smile and silent demeanor--she's mistakenly called Sadako by those around her. But behind her scary facade is a very misunderstood teenager. Too shy to fit in, all she wants to do is make some friends. But when the most popular boy in class befriends her, she's sure to make more than just that--she's about to make some enemies too!"--Cover

An excellent read. Not so much on the side of realism as I typically like for learning purposes on people types, but extremely cute. There are set-up in the series for readers to feel total heartbreak, but due to Sawako's nature, things have (4 volumes in) always turned out well and positive. It makes me happy to read these books. Also, they are not fast reads, and most impressively, the characters all stay in form: they don't leave their character roles to make a moment convenient (such as suddenly being really aware and noticing who likes who or something like that). The characters are honest and true to themselves, and Sawako is just so pure. It's a nice feel good read, for the most part, with some drama interspersed.

This is seriously a really cute story, great for beginners to manga (like me, lol :p). I love Sawako; she's so sweet and quiet and has so many charming qualities that she can't see. And, unlike with most anime/manga female leads, she's not bubbly and outgoing and a complete clutz. Not at ALL. Yet she is just as enjoyable, and I really feel for her as I have a hard time with shyness as well. Kazahaya is sigh-worthy too. ^_^ He's a dear, and a really good friend that Sawako looks up too. I'm wondering if there's a little more to him than his "perfect" appearance (who knows if this may cause for a plot twist down the road? Hmph...), but I suppose I'll have to wait and see. Very nice read. Left you smiling. :)

I've only read vol. 1 so far but it seems a little cliche. I do think it has some potential though. I found the romance really sweet how both Kazehaya and Sawako admire each other. I don't really hate Sawako, it's really ironic how everyone think she's a creeper when she just wants to make friends, but she is a bit naive.

This is a very cute shojo series. Popular boy falls in love with unpopular girl, she slowly becomes accepted by her peers and begins to make friends. Through a series of misunderstandings their true feelings towards one another take a long time to be discovered, but this happens without all the angst and aggravation of other shojo manga series. The later volumes of the series are fast reads, it seems like there are pages with little to no text, but just as enjoyable as earlier volumes. If you have several hours to kill or want to read something that is cute or sweet but not terribly deep this is the series for you.

So adorable! The girl is so inept at dealing with people, and it makes her look hilarious!
