Add a CommentLong, long ago, in 2009, few male writers were making an effort to write strong female characters--much less strong, brilliant, female teenage characters. Preston took a chance at offending his mostly male readership with a brilliant 20-year-old central character who outsmarts Silicon Valley highly educated nerds. He may have offended a few readers who have no time for women characters (same people who couldn't watch the Mad Max movie featuring a female lead) but he won me over with this book. This is good sci-fi.
Not one of Preston's best but he's a very good writer, even one of his "okay" efforts is entertaining and will keep you reading until the end
Simply not up to par with his previous novel 'Blasphemy.' Elementary and uninteresting with a dud of a conclusion. Surprisingly disappointing from an author with such a solid track record.

Written for teen-agers with no real sci-fi meat.
