CLASSICS are more than books that have stood the test of time. They are stories that impart timeless themes, that contain universal truths, and that provide rich literary experiences year alter year and generation after generation. However, many classics may he inaccessible to contemporary readers. Obsolete words, outmoded expressions, difficult sentence construction, and unfamiliar settings can place classics out of reach of many students, especially those with special needs. Unabridged audiobook versions can help bridge the gap between works of literature and the students in your classrooms.

I wish today’s books were still written this way! I cannot believe I was not encouraged to read this book throughout my education. It’s gorgeous! The writing is so carefully crafted that every word is necessary. The pictures that Alcott paints in her novel are so rich and true that the reader will clearly understand the trials and tribulations strong, independent women endured during the post Civil War era.

The reader for the audiobook version does a fantastic job as well. :)
