Although he looks ridiculous with all those instruments dangling from his neck - one of which, a small one, he even puts into his nose to blow on - it sounds quite good. There are some very pleasant harmonies when he plays two instruments simultaneously.

Rahsaan Roland Kirk was an outstanding, unusual, musician, and this DVD _is_ representative. So you're in for a treat.
I was in for another treat with the discovery in the sidelines of his pianist in the first segment, George Gruntz. Listen closely and see if you agree.
But Rahsaan is out of this world, as in up there with Sun Ra, but the musical talent is way beyond question. Pulls out a few crazy instruments as well, but always in the service of some fine music-making.
Highly recommended for any jazz freaks who aren't already familiar.

This being my first exposure to Kirk's music, I cannot say how well the film represents his oeuvre. The quality of the sound and image is very good, and there is a lot to experience on this DVD. Kirk's technique is incredible and has to be seen to be appreciated.
