A deceptively simple movie on the surface (dialogue is rarely more than a few words or sentences) it manages to tell several complex and moving stories all at once, and it tells them beautifully. Very, very good; highly recommended viewing for all.

The reviewer states /// where Japanese-Americans were stripped of their rights and locked away because of racist assumptions about their loyalties \\\ Blaming everything on racism - - a mental abstraction, as opposed to shedding light on the great Japanese land grab engineered by John McCloy and Earl Warren, ignores the fraud so rampant in America and throughout its history. If all things ascribed to racism were expected to disappear with the end of racism, while the evil greedheads remain in control, simply points to the blind stupidity foisted upon us! Great movie, nonetheless.

This documentary was a timely reminder to all that we can and will experience the same extreme conditions during times of great stress and trauma during times of war or terrorist acts. Mr Miriditani is just a sample of someone that is scarred by having been the target of such prejudices in the 1930's and 40's. You can see the similarities between what he suffered as a young man during the WWII internment camps and what American born Middle-easterners suffered after 9/11. A lesson to all but unfortunately, many of the ignorant fail to learn this lesson.

A very good look at the similarities between WWII internment and the fallout of 9/11. Mr. Mirikitani is an interesting person, whose life is capture in his art.

Heart-warming look at an eccentric homeless Japanese elderly man. A very touching story. Must see.
