Jenna is unhappily married. She squirrels away money and is hoping to win a pie-baking contest so, with the prize money, she'll have enough cash to leave her husband Earl. She finds herself pregnant and her plans are thrown awry. She bakes phenomenal pies at Joe's diner, listens to old Joe's wisdom, tolerates her sour boss Cal, is friends with her fellow waitresses, Dawn and Becky. She, also, finds a mutual attraction with the new doctor in town. Life with Earl becomes less tolerable as her pregnancy advances. Her way out of the marriage is less clear and her affair with the doctor is complicated by his marriage

Equal parts grit and heart, Jenna tries to cope with a terrible marriage and an unexpected pregnancy. Flavored with (see what I did there? Haha) Jenna's incredible talent for inventing delicious pies and funneling her feelings through them. Charming and authentic, with a delightfully crotchety Andy Griffith for good measure!

Remember the old sitcom, "Alice" with Linda Lavin?
This is like a really long episode of that show.

This movie made me want to bake all the pies. It's such a great film. Kerry Russell and Nathan Fillion and delightful and adorable. Grab a piece of pie and your best friend and watch this. You will not regret it.

Waitress is a wonderful dramedy, and it seems to get better each time I watch it. I recommend pairing it with pie since the movie will make you hungry for it. I've been a fan of Keri Russell since Felicity, and this is an excellent role for her. It also made me a fan of Nathan Fillion. The entire cast is great. Sadly, the writer/director/supporting actress Adrienne Shelly was murdered shortly after the film was completed--such a tragic loss for her family, friends and the film community.

Waitress is rated PG-13 for sexual content, language and thematic elements. The movie has been adapted into a Broadway musical.

ADORABLE! I saw this when it first came out and enjoyed it. It is even better the second time. NOT just a girl movie--all fathers of daughters should view this. Yes it is about three women friends and their relationships with men, but it is also a winning against all odds movie.

Okay! Excellent Film though it was a little bit "hayseed." Country-bumpkin-ish, but no matter, it had a lot of words of wisdom for Life itself and it reminds me of a cross between Julie and Julia and that cooking-show movie with Penelope Cruz, Woman on Top! All in all, yeah, excellent film. It totally made me cry too, towards the end, I think! Such a soothing film! So shocking to find out that actress Adrienne Shelly was brutally murdered in real life, not long after the making of this film!!! :( RIP a. Shelly

Don't be fooled! I put off watching this movie for a looong time because I was afraid it was going to be another dumb, predictable, cookie-cutter romantic comedy. It's quite far from it.

Black quirky humor (and suffering) that gets a tad grotesque here and there, but the high quality film making make it very enjoyable, and what a great idea having Andy Griffith as Joe.

This movie is a chicflic but the humor is ever so slightly black, which keep the characters grounded in the real world better than in most chicflicks. Life isn't all pie and ice cream.
The pies are GORGEOUS. I want Jenna to make me a pie!

Jenna: Dear Baby, I hope someday somebody wants to hold you for 20 minutes straight and that's all they do. They don't pull away. They don't look at your face. They don't try to kiss you. All they do is wrap you up in their arms and hold on tight, without an ounce of selfishness to it.
