An interesting inclusion in the "Thin Man" series. Set in a small town, it is somewhat slower in pace, but does a nice line in humour. The assumptions of guilt gags are fairly broad, and therefore telegraphed, but it's an amusing viewing.

Nick and Nora are on their way to a family reunion in Sycamore Springs, Nick's home town. He is convinced that his dad isn't proud of him or even cares about his work. Nora is sure she can change the old man's mind when she starts the ball rolling about a non-existent case that Nick is working on. This flushes out the worst in people and the next thing you know, Nick has a new murder on his hands. Nora does some sleuthing of her own and gets a lot of wolves in her trap, but it is Nick who saves the day.
