Really adorable book about five sisters growing up in New York during the early nineteen hundreds. I love how each of the sisters have their own distinct personality. Ella is serious and responsible, Henrietta (Henny) is mischievous and fun loving, Sarah is studious and shy, Charlotte is imaginative and bookish, and Gertie is just the sweet little one.

When they found Henney, they were so happy. Review by Gretchen Inman.

*Good story for multi-cultural studies on the Jewish faith and lifestyle. *Very educational and informative about family and the faith of the family. Here is a quote from the book that is worth noting: "It means we're all close and loving and loyal - and our family will always be that." This is a quote that would be a great motto for every family and assist with making the nation strong. :) :) **Really valuable reading.

**spoiler alert** How can I not love a book where the romantic heroine is a librarian! This was also one of the books that introduced me to Judaism as a child, the rare book depicting Jewish life in the early 20th century in a generally upbeat way. Each of the 5 sisters is lovable, with a distinct personality, but shy, bookish Sarah was always my favorite.
