In the late 1930s, a NYC private eye takes a case of a condemned man and finds himself surrounded with intrigue involving eugenics and the threat of war with Germany. Meanwhile in Germany, a loyal naval officer walks a fine line between loyalty to country and loyalty to the new Führer.

Well-worth the accolades by the writers reviews on the cover and Kerri Miller of Minnesota Public Radio’s recommendation last winter. One of the best mysteries I’ve read in a while.
