An exquisitely color illustrated volume presenting a dichotomous key, accompanied by thorough descriptions and information about habitat, elevation, and flowering times of the flowering plants found throughout the central Sierra Nevada region within the elevation range from about 500 to 4,000 meters. Included are only those taxa known to exist within the boundaries of Yosemite National Park and the El Portal Administrative Site. Botti, a botanist formerly in the resources management division at Yosemite National Park, follows the conventions of The Jepson Manual, Higher Plants of California, edited by James C. Hickman (1993). The taxonomic treatment of divisions, classes, subclasses, and orders generally follows the conventions presented in Plant Classification (2d ed.) by Lyman Benson.
