Written by one of the true masters of the medium, this practical reference guide will help you achieve the famed brilliance of watercolor. It includes: descriptions and usage tips for 40 artist's-quality colors - arranged in spectral order within seven major hue sections; tests for determining a pigment's transparency, permanence and other characteristics you need to know to use the color successfully; sample palettes that use a minimum of colors for maximum aesthetic results; and Zoltan's Color Systems Dial. Use it to identify at a glance the major color schemes, such as split complementary and triadic - and to see each color mixed with a warm neutral, with a cool neutral and with its complement in various degrees of dominance.

Each colour has 2 pages devoted to it. There is a reference photo and 3 step-by-step demos showing how the picture progressed. It also shows the palette of colours used to complete each painting which is very helpful. Most of the demos use a 4-6 colour palette so if you're looking for a more limited palette look elsewhere.
